When most people think of yoga, there is a particular image that comes to mind:
Was I close?
Personally, I think of the studio, filled with slim upper class women, performing each move with grace and balance.
It’s intimidating, and it can keep a lot of people from enjoying and benefiting from this beautiful practice.
BUT, the hidden secret of why corporate yoga is so amazing is that:
The students don’t come to the studio
The teacher comes to them, and meets them wherever they are at, both physically and mentally.
I’ve met many yoga instructors who are struggling to fill their schedules with classes, largely because they’re all competing for the limited studio space.
However, this is missing a huge market of people who would never come to the studio, either because they can’t fit it into their schedule, or they simply aren’t drawn to a traditional yoga establishment.
Women who practice yoga outnumber men nearly 3 to 1, but we have an opportunity to change that statistic by entering male-dominated workplaces.
Because of this, I love showing yoga instructors how to build their practice by connecting with companies.
I encourage you to check out our free Corporate Yoga Workflow to learn what this process looks like.
I truly believe that if we all work together to reach more students and expand the image of what yoga looks like and who it’s for, we all benefit.
