How To Convince Your Boss To Let You Do Yoga At Work

Workplace Wellness Employees

yoga at work

It’s hard to fit fitness into a busy schedule.

So, what are your options?

Well, you could drag your groggy body out of bed at 5AM, and trust yourself to not hit that snooze button a few too many times.

Or, perhaps instead you could hit the gym right after work, so long as you’re not sucked into a project and asked to stay late, you don’t hit that inevitable traffic jam, and you can hold off on eating dinner a few more hours.

Fun? Not so much.

However in this post we are going explore a third option.

What if you could enjoy a yoga class during the day, at your office!

No need to sign up for a gym membership, deal with parking, or stress out about getting back to work in time for your next meeting.

Sounds too good to be true? Here are a few ways to convince your boss to let you enjoy yoga at work.

Share the studies

It’s easy to find study after study after study on the benefits of workplace wellness.

These studies show that wellness initiatives like yoga at work increase employee productivity, retention, and happiness, while reducing stress, absenteeism, and healthcare costs.

The overall ROI is at least $1.50 for every dollar that the employer invests in a wellness program. It’s a win-win situation for employees and employers.

Promise participation

One of the challenges employers face with workplace wellness is how to get the employees to participate and stay engaged.

This is one of the main reasons why employers give up on wellness programs, or don’t want to pursue them in the first place – why put money into something no one is going to use?

However, if the idea actually comes from the employee, and the employees have a say in the wellness measures, they are obviously going to actually use the services.

Ask your co-workers if they would also be interested in yoga at work, and let your boss know that the employees are eager to get fit, healthy, and productive.

Split the cost

If your company is strapped for money, your boss is likely hesitant to add a new benefit.

However, yoga at work does not have to be expensive, particularly if employees pitch in. We are flexible and willing to explore different pricing plans.

For example, if the employees contributed $5/class (where else in San Diego can you find a great yoga class for $5!), and you have at least 10 employees, this would bring the cost down to $50/class (or less) for the employer.

That’s probably less than your office spends on coffee each week.

Let us know what works for you, and we will always be open and up front about our fees.

Let’s face the facts

We spend a huge chunk of our lives at work, and we all want to be our best, most productive, happy, and healthy selves.

Your boss wants this too, but it can be hard to find time to do the research to find the solutions that work for everyone.

It’s your life, your body, your health, and it’s worth the effort to ask for what will make you a better employee. We’re here to help.
